Who are Freeview?ONDigital and later ITV Digital ran digital television, however they went into administration, after purchasing the Premiership Football League rights in order to win customers, from the more popular Sky Satellite Television service (BSkyB).
On the 30th October 2002, the service backed by former BBC Director General Greg Dyke, Freeview started to formally broadcast as a replacement for the failed ITV Digital.
The company behind Freeview is called DTV Services Ltd, which is a consortium set up by the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation), Crown Castle UK (now called National Grid Wireless) and BSkyB (British Sky Broadcasting).
All of the above, put simply, translates to Freeview which is a brand run by DTV Services Ltd, as set up by the BBC, National Grid Wireless and Sky to replace the failed ITV Digital.
